Carl W. Lennox
Augusta, Ga. – Mr. Carl W. Lennox, 51, passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2014 at the home of his sister, surrounded by family. He will be missed by many.
He is survived by his father, Dr. Kenneth W. Lennox (Karen), brother, Gordon Lennox, sister, Karin Patterson (Chip), his nieces, Brannon and Courtney Patterson, and his family in Sweden. He was preceded in death by his mother, Berit L. Lennox.
Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, Carl moved around much of his childhood as a military child. His father was stationed in Hawaii for two tours and Germany for two tours, but moved to Augusta, Georgia when Carl was in the 9th grade. Carl attended Westminster Day School where he started the circle of friends he carried into adulthood. He graduated from the Academy of Richmond County in 1981, and then got his bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia afterwards. He worked as a phlebotomist at the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center in Augusta for over twenty years, and was known for his gentle touch when drawing blood.
Carl was also an avid Georgia Bulldog and a Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and would cheer on his teams on the weekends. Those that knew Carl also knew his dry sense of humor and his overwhelming generosity. Many people got to enjoy Carl’s home cooking. Family was important to him, and he opened his heart to everyone. Carl will be missed by those lives he touched.
The family would like to thank Trinity Hospice and Angie in particular, for their tremendous support the last days of Carl’s life.
In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that donations be made to either the Trinity Foundation, P.O. Box 31358, Augusta, GA 30903 or to the American Cancer Society, 2607 Commons Blvd, Augusta, GA 30909, in Carl’s name.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 22nd at 2:00 PM at Thomas Poteet & Son located at 214 Davis Road, Augusta, GA 30907 (706)364-8484.
