Augusta, GA – Carole Ann Taylor Harris entered into rest peacefully on Friday, June 28, 2024, at her home surrounded by family after bravely battling several illnesses. She was preceded in death by her parents, Myron B. Taylor, Jr. and Annie Reid Lavender Taylor.
She is survived by her children, Christopher (Katie) Harris of Hiram, GA, Laura (Adrian) Willis of Evans, GA; granddaughters, Molly, Nora, Maeve, Kearnan and Evelyn; and 2 sisters, E. Irene Taylor of Augusta, GA and Susan Taylor Troutman of Atlanta, GA; nephew, Fielding (Kelly) Troutman of Atlanta, GA; great niece, Ada; great nephew, Hodges.
Carole was born during World War II in Atlanta, GA when her father had volunteered and joined the United States Navy Seabees to serve overseas. She lived in Cartersville, GA as a young child and later moved to Forest Park, GA. The family settled in Augusta, GA in 1956 where Carole attended and graduated from The Academy of Richmond County in Augusta, GA in 1960.
Carole had an exceptional banking career for a total of 36 years working for Wachovia (formerly Georgia Railroad Bank & Trust Co then later First Union). She retired as VP and Trust Officer with First Union National Bank responsible for the Trust Department at the Hilton Head Island, SC branch.
Carole served on many committees both professional and personal during her career. Particularly memorable was being president of the Ronald McDonald House of Augusta Board of Directors.
She was a loyal friend, mother, grandmother, and sister. She had a great sense of humor and was not afraid to speak her mind. Her happy place was Hilton Head Island where she lived for 15 years before returning to Augusta. She was a longtime fan of the Atlanta Braves and Georgia Bulldogs.
Her memorial service will be held Saturday, July 13, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors on Davis Rd. with Chaplain Robert Taylor officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 P.M. Reception to follow memorial service at Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House, 1442 Harper Street, Augusta, GA 30901 or to the American Kidney Foundation, 11921 Rockville Pike, Suite 300, Rockville, MD 20852.
