Carole Ann Meek (née Major) peacefully passed away on February 21, 2024, following a valiant two-year battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family. Carole is survived by her devoted husband of 53 years, Gordon E. Meek II, of Evans, GA; her son, Gordon E. Meek III (Tres), and daughter-in-law, Eve M. Meek, of Virginia Beach, VA; daughter, Molly C. Meek, of Aspen, Colorado; and her cherished grandsons, Gordon E. Meek IV and Andrew John Meek, of Virginia Beach, VA.
In addition to her immediate family, Carole is survived by her sister, Marilyn Cantrell (née Major), and her brother, Richard L. Major, both of Seattle, WA. She was predeceased by her brother, Alan J. Major, of Sedro Woolley, WA.
Born in Seattle in 1944, Carole earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Seattle University. Following her graduation, she embarked on a fulfilling career with the Department of Defense, teaching overseas. It was during her first assignment in the Philippines where she met her beloved husband on her very first night. They quickly formed a deep connection and married within the year, beginning a remarkable journey together spanning 53 years and multiple continents.
After the birth of her son, Carole dedicated 21 years to being a devoted stay-at-home mother, taking immense pride in creating a warm and loving home for her family. An accomplished cook, baker, and captivating storyteller, Carole's vibrant spirit shone through her meticulously coordinated outfits, her passion for travel, and her enthusiasm for celebrating every holiday with gusto. Her boundless generosity was felt through carefully curated gifts sent to loved ones near and far. Carole's unwavering faith and love for the Lord radiated from her bright blue eyes, warm embraces, and the joy she brought to all who knew her.
In 1994, Carole earned a master’s degree in education from Augusta University, and subsequently dedicated two decades to community counseling in the CSRA area. She served on the boards of Safe Homes of Augusta and the Center for Care and Counseling, while actively participating in the community through her involvement with St. Theresa’s Catholic Church and Catholic Social Services.
A woman of profound faith, Carole consistently ended her Caring Bridge entries with the heartfelt words, “Jesus, I trust in you.” She will be fondly remembered for her legendary Chex mix, delectable lemon poppy seed bread, delicious sugar cookies, love for family and friends, and spirited games of dominoes. Carole's legacy of love, compassion, and unwavering faith will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched.

Services will be held on Monday, February 26, 2024, 11:00 A.M. at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church, 4921 Columbia Road, Grovetown, GA 30813. A reception for family and friends will be held afterward at the church.
