Carolyn Harding Augusta, GA – Carolyn Marie Harding passed from this earth on April 29, 2016, after a short illness.
She was preceded in death by her husband George (Ben), infant daughter, Dolores, parents, Ezole and Preston Laborde, and her 7 siblings. Carolyn was born in Marksville, Louisiana in 1924. She met and married Captain George Harding during World War II, a union which lasted 66 years, ending with his death in 2008.
A woman of substance, equipped with only a formal high school education, Carolyn never stopped educating herself, her thirst for knowledge encompassed myriad fields. She taught herself to sew and became a master seamstress; the quest for perfection and attention to detail caused her to stand out in all domestic crafts. Carolyn put herself through cosmology school in order to help support her family and ensure that her children could attend catholic schools. She successfully owned and operated Le Petit Beauty Salon for many years. She had a particular interest in gardening, bowling, and art. In her later years, Carolyn began painting and wood carving, for which she won numerous ribbons and awards. Carolyn was a lifelong catholic, with strong faith and deeply entrenched principles which guided her through life.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory 3 children, Elaine Elias (Ab), Michael Harding (Tina), and Dan Harding (Helen), 6 grand children, 15 great grand children, and numerous nieces and nephews. She will remain in the hearts of those who loved her as gifted, and one-of-a-kind, full of humor, and always with an opinion, about everything, especially politics and current events.
The family wishes to thank Gentiva Hospice for helping in the care of Carolyn during her final months.
A funeral Mass will be held Thursday, May 5, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church with Fr. Lou Lindsey celebrant. Burial will follow in Westover Memorial Park.
