Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Tuesday, February 7, 2012 in Augusta, Mrs. Carolyn Owens Stafford, 101, wife of the late James A. Stafford.
Mrs. Stafford was born in Augusta, GA on November 19, 1910. She was the daughter of the late Ada Chandler and James R.L.Owens. Mrs. Stafford graduated form Tubman high School and was employed by the American Optical Company. She later worked with her husband in his business. Mrs. Stafford was a life long member of St. John United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school to five year olds for 60 years.
Family members include son: Frank Stafford (Jill) of Augusta, GA; daughter: Martha Henderson (Bill) of Newport News, VA; grandsons: James Stafford (Stacy) of Augusta, GA, Eric Stafford of Charleston, SC, Bill Henderson of Zurich, Switzerland; granddaughters: Noel Stafford McCoy (Jack) of Charleston, SC., Laura Henderson of Norfolk, VA; great-grandsons: Frank Stafford of Augusta, GA, Henry Stafford of Augusta, GA,; great-granddaughter: Dorothy McCoy of Charleston, SC.
The family would like to express their special thanks to Mrs.Daisy Carter who had faithfully cared for Mrs. Stafford during the past years and to the staff of the Golden Living Community.
Graveside services will be held Monday, February 13, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Westover Memorial Park with Rev. Gary DeMore and Mr. Mark Maund officiating.
Gifts in lieu of flowers may be sent to the United Methodist Childrens Home, 325 8th St., Augusta, Ga.30901.
