Augusta, GA – Catherine Elizabeth Smith Baggott, age 97 of Augusta, went home to be with her Lord Monday morning, October 31, 2016. She is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, John T. Baggott.
Mrs. Baggott was an avid member of Warren Baptist Church and worked tirelessly as a Sunday school teacher for more than 25 years, assisted with folding church bulletins and preparing silverware for Wednesday night supper. She also sang in the Senior Adult Choir. She was well-known for the inspiring letters that she wrote to those who lost a loved one.
She is survived by 3 sons: Carl (Roxanne) of Orlando, James (Barbara) of Martinez, and Robert (Linda) of Clarks Hill; grandchildren: Carla Becnel (Kevin), John Baggott, Kevin Baggott (Wendy), Kirk Baggott (Amy), Katie Taylor (Jeff), Christy Locke (Andrew), and Robert Baggott (Jessica); and 15 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 3, 2016 at 12 Noon in the Sanctuary of Warren Baptist Church with Rev. Carl Baggott officiating. Burial will follow in Westover Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Warren Baptist Church Bereavement Committee, 3203 Washington Rd, Augusta, GA 30907.
