Catherine Gibbs

Martinez, GA – Catherine Reeves Gibbs, went home to be with the Lord, November 19, 2017 at the age of 100. She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 60 years, Eldridge D. “Joe” Gibbs and her daughter: Nancy Godowns. She is survived by her son: E. David Gibbs, Jr. (Deanna) and her daughter: Martha Anne Bagby (Roger); brother: Paul Reeves (Sally); She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 18 great grands and 9 great-great grands. In her last years, she was cared for by her niece Connie Pearre (Carl) in Connie’s home. Connie was greatly supported by Pruitt Hospice and the family is sincerely grateful.

She was retired Civil Service at Fort Gordon. She was affectionally known as “Nanny”, not only to her grands, greats and great-greats, but many others. She loved the Lord and faithfully served Him at several area churches over the years: Trinity On The Hill UMC, First Assembly of God, New Hope and The Sanctuary. She was a faithful supporter of missions, especially Christian Haitian Outreach (CHO), and served many years with the mission’s administrative functions for Eleanor “Mom” Workman who also recently passed away.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. at Westover Memorial Park with Rev. Michael Gibbs presiding. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
