Charlene (Chamberlin) Scharite
1938-2015
Augusta, GA – Gods angel on earth was called home on July 12, 2015. Her work on earth is finished but will continue in heaven.
Charlene was born on July 27, 1938 in a small town in central Illinois called Atlanta. The area is known for great corn and soy bean crops.
Upon graduation from high school she went to live with her oldest sister and husband-Major and Mrs. Lee Kelly at Fort Knox, KY to take advantage of a job opportunity working for the U.S. Army. At Fort Knox she met her husband to be-Lt. Frank W. Scharite. Charlene and Frank were married on June 4, 1959 in the post chapel at Ft. Rucker, AL. Their two children Mark and Michelle were born at Ft. Rucker. With her husband being military Charlene and family lived in many places in the United States and Overseas. After 26 years Frank retired and they selected Augusta as their home. Once settled Augusta Charlene started a business called Southern Hospitality Greeting Service. Through the business Charlene got to know many local business people and many new comers to Augusta. Over the years she had numerous ladies that worked for her making calls on newcomers to Augusta. Through the business and church she and other ladies started a bible study made of various denominations. The bible study led to other ministries that Charlene led and participated in, such as the Jail Ministry, God’s Girls and others. She also counseled many young troubled women and helped them through their troubled times. Charlene was accomplished in many ways, but her greatest gift was her ability to reach out to others with a true heart and helping hand. Charlene was a longtime member of Grace Fellowship Church of Augusta.
Charlene leaves behind her husband Frank of 55 years, her son Mark of Augusta, daughter Michelle Waite of Atlanta, GA. Charlene battled Parkinson’s for 26 years but never complained and never gave up.
