Charles W. Burrum, Jr.

Evans, GA – Entered into rest on Monday, June 5, 2023, Mr. Charles W. Burrum, Jr., 96, husband of the late Mrs. Ann Thigpen Burrum.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, June 8, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Pastor Dave Vosseller officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Davis Branch, Justin Branch, Mike Davis, Steve Gindlesperger, Bob Willing and Chris Radford.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home.

C.W. was born in Lyndale, Georgia but grew up in Augusta, in the area proudly known as Frog Hollow. Charles was a graduate of the Academy of Richmond County and was then drafted into the US Navy during WWII. Following his service in the Navy, he began a career with J. B. White’s, retiring after 40 years as supervisor in shipping and receiving. He was a longtime member of Lakemont Presbyterian Church. C.W. was an avid golfer; even playing at the age of 91.He loved the Braves, making birdhouses, keeping his yard and traveling the country with Ann before her death in 2022.

Family members include his daughters: Debra Radford and Kathy Robinson (Gerald); sons: Thomas Gordon Burke, Jr., James Paul Burke, and John Duane Burke; grandchildren: Samantha Arnold (Lee), Summer Burke, Julie Smothers (Tracy), Ashley McCarley, Chad Radford (Megan), Chris Radford (Britney), Davis Branch, Jessica Young, Justin Branch (Jennifer), Holley Burke (Walt), Sarah Kniphfer (Kraig), and Jamie Burke; and great grandchildren: Ben, Rigsby, Will, Gage, Burkley, Zach, Josh, Warner, Easton, Kendall, Karah Grace, Krosson, Kingsley and Keaston; and nephew: Tom Foster Jr (Suzanne). In addition to his wife, Charles is preceded in death by his parents: Mattie and Charles W. Burrum, Sr.; siblings: Grace Roper, Ruby Foster, Ester Dunaway, Roy Burrum; niece: LeAnn Bartolucci and nephew: Richard Servais
