Charles Harmon Ivey
Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Sunday, February 2, 2014, Charles Harmon Ivey, 90.
Mr. Ivey was born in Wrightsville, GA. Though he was born and raised in Georgia his professional career as a civil engineer took him all over the US and around the globe. He took great pride in the many bridges and structures that he had a hand in creating, particularly the former Atlanta Fulton County Stadium and the Mackinac Bridge in Michigan. Mr. Ivey served his country in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He was a devoted Atlanta Braves and Georgia Bulldogs fan.
Family members include daughter: Kathy Barrett of Evans, GA; grandchildren: Rebecca Phillips (Matt), Mary Beth Kepshire (Erik), Tim Barrett; and great-grandchildren: Luke Kepshire, Vivian Kepshire and Barrett Phillips.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Piney Mount United Methodist Church in Wrightsville, GA. Full Navy Honors will be accorded in the Piney Mount Church Cemetery immediately following the memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to support the Imagine Missions orphanage in Haiti. Please earmark donations in memory of Chuck Ivey. The address for Imagine Missions is 236 Miller Avenue, Dennison OH 44621.
