Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Sunday, December 6, 2015, at his home, Mr. Charles J. Williamson, III, 89, loving husband of 32 years to Mrs. Betty G. Williamson.

Mr. Williamson was a native of Savannah, GA but grew up in Augusta. He attended Monte Sano School and Richmond Academy. Mr. Williamson was a graduate, cum laude, of Washington Lee University with a degree in finance. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. After a brief employment with Georgia Railroad Bank & Trust, Mr. Williamson joined Merrill Lynch in 1950. He retired in 1988 as Vice President. Mr. Williamson served in many charity drives, he was on the board of March of Dimes for many years and served as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. He was a life member of St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church and served as Warden for 2 terms. Mr. Williamson was in the lay ministry for 40 years.

Family members in addition to his wife include son: Charles J. Williamson IV (Katherine); grandchildren: Krystin Marie Williamson and Jonathan Taylor Williamson and brother: Marc Williamson (Susan). Mr. Williamson was preceded in death by his sons: Ernest North Williamson and Edward Lynn Williamson and daughter: Ann Douville Williamson.

A funeral service will be Thursday, December 10, 2015, 3:00 P.M. at St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church with The Rev. Joe Bowden officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Memorial Garden.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church, 3321 Wheeler Road, Augusta, GA 30909.

The family will receive friends following the burial at the church.
