Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Thursday, January 23, 2014, Mr. Charles Roy Johnson, 82, loving husband of Margaret Johnson.
Mr. Johnson was a veteran of both the United States Marines and Navy. He retired as Director of the Physical Plant at Stetson University, having previously served both Georgia Southern University and Georgia Institute of Technology in the same capacity. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Family members in addition to his wife include son: Mike Johnson (Sandy), daughter: Nancy McLellan (Bobby); stepsons: Walter Hawkins (Nancy), Rick Hawkins (Valerie); stepdaughters: Leigh Hawkins (Diana), Diane Hawkins; 11 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 4:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Tom Kalliokoski officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army at 1384 Greene Street, Augusta, GA 30901.
