Augusta, GA – Entered into rest June 7, 2013 at University Hospital, Charles G. Major, 61, husband of Connie M. Major.
A native of Augusta, GA, Charles graduated from the Academy of Richmond County in 1970. He was also a graduate of the University of Georgia. Charles was an avid golfer and football fan and enjoyed working as a caddy at the Augusta National Golf Club.
In addition to his wife, surviving family members include: daughters: Stacy Whitehouse (Neil) of Augusta, GA, Shelly Major of Rome, GA; grandchildren: Ana Whitehouse, Rina Whitehouse; brother: Jimmy Major; and sister: Nancy Klam.
A funeral service will be held Monday, June 10, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Doug Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park. Pallbearers include: Bert Cheshire, Kenny Morris, Berny McGahee, David Mulherin, Gene Major, Mike Kirkey, Donnie Tyre and Tony Holley. Honorary pallbearers will include caddies from the Augusta National Golf Club.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Tee of Augusta, 3165 Damascus Road, Augusta, GA 30909, or to a charity of one’s choice.
