Charles Mills

Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Saturday, February 14, 2015, Mr. Charles Leon Mills, 74, loving husband of 53 years to Barbara Cleckley Mills.

Mr. Mills was born in Augusta. He attended Clemson University with a full scholarship and played football for 4 years. He earned his Bachelors in Business Administration. He retired after 35 years from Georgia Power Company as Area Manager in Evans, GA. His career also included Thomson, Toccoa and Waycross, Georgia.

Family members in addition to his wife include his daughters: Kelli Mills Monk, Christy Mills Metts and husband Jonathan, Jennifer Mills Kearson; grandchildren: Jessica, Elaina, and Adalyn Monk, Trenton Goff, Kate Metts, Will and Sarah Mills Kearson; loving niece: Lynne Davis. He is preceded in death by his parents, Leonard W. and Imond Mills and his brother, Jim Mills.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. in the Storey Chapel of First Baptist Church with Dr. Timothy Owings and Rev. Michael Mills officiating. A private burial will follow. Pallbearers will be: Lamar Kearson, Jonathan Metts, John Goff, Mark Mills, David Mills, Cail Olliff, Joe Olliff, Creighton Laircey, and Dr. Newton Bates. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Big Buckhead Hunt Club.

The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service in the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
