Charles E. Standard, Jr.

Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Sunday, April 18, 2021, Charles Eugene “Gene” Standard, Jr., 89, husband of 59 years to the late C. Eloise “Ella” Standard.

Gene was one of the founding charter members of Lumpkin Road Baptist Church, with services being held in his home until the groundbreaking and construction of the original sanctuary, which he was a part of. He served as Treasurer for 47 years, Deacon, and Sunday School Bus driver. After serving in the U.S. Navy, he retired from DuPont and SRNS as an E/I Mechanic. Gene was also a member of the Fleming Masonic Lodge.

Family members include his daughters: Teresa Standard Crouch (Ron), Jan Standard Hardy (Wally) and Sam Standard; grandchildren: Josh Crouch (Kelly), Jake Crouch (Ashley), Jared Crouch (Jamie), Nate McGraw (Heather), Amanda Hardy (special friend Steve), Jace Washington (Anna), and Kacey Smith (Spencer); great grandchildren: Madison and Savannah Crouch, Emery and Ria Crouch, Bradley and Marshall Crouch, Ella McGraw, Brayden and Ethan Willie; twin brother: Almond Standard (Bonnie), as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father: Charles E. Standard Sr.; mother: Lou Guinn Standard; two brothers: Arthur Standard and Doug Standard and sister: Christine Standard Burton.

A graveside service will be Thursday, April 22, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at Hillcrest Memorial Park with Dr. Rick Standard and Pastor Don Stone officiating. Pallbearers will be Josh Crouch, Jake Crouch, Jared Crouch, Nate McGraw, Jace Washington, Brayden Willie, Ethan Willie, and Spencer Smith.
