Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Friday, July 1, 2011, Mr. Charles Thomas “Sambo” Fordham, 68, husband of Mrs. D. Marita Sheppard Fordham.

Mr. Fordham was a native of Macon, GA but was raised in Sandersville. He spent most of his adult life in Augusta. Mr. Fordham was a graduate of Sandersville High School. He was the owner of Fordham Produce. Mr. Fordham enjoyed fishing, traveling, spending time with his family and his church family at Lumpkin Road Baptist Church. He retired as a Captain with the Augusta Fire Department.

Family members in addition to his wife Marita include son: Charles E. Fordham (Betty); daughter: Donna Wilsey (Chris); 3 grandchildren; brothers: John Fordham (Tina), Walter Davis, the late Lewis Davis and a sister: Patty Wesson.


Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Lumpkin Road Baptist Church with Rev. Donald Stone and Rev. Greg Glover officiating. Burial will follow in the family cemetery. Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be members of the Augusta Fire Department.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lumpkin Road Baptist Church Building Fund, 2540 Lumpkin Road, Augusta, GA 30906.
