Charles Waller

Evans, GA – Entered into rest on Saturday, December 23, 2023, Charles Bryant Waller, Jr., 84, loving husband of Jane Waller.

Charles “Chuck” was born on July 30, 1939 in Winchester, Kentucky and was raised in Lexington, KY. He served in the United States Airforce in security and intelligence for thirty years, which included a tour in Vietnam.  A much decorated Airman, Chuck received the following awards and medals during his military career: Meritorious service medal with 6 oak leaf clusters, Air Force commendation medal with 1 oak leaf cluster, small arms expert rifle, noncommissioned officer professional military education ribbon with 2 oak leaf clusters, army good conduct medal, Air Force legacy service ribbon with 6 oak leaf clusters, national defense service medal, Air Force overseas service long tour ribbon with 2 oak leaf clusters, Air Force overseas service short tour ribbon with 1 oak leaf cluster, Vietnam service medal, Air Force outstanding unit award with 1 oak leaf cluster, Vietnam campaign medal, Air Force good conduct medal with 6 oak leaf clusters.  In his spare time, he was a scratch golfer, and former basketball player and coach.

Surviving family members in addition to his wife include his daughter: Patricia Waller Carr (Bert); stepdaughter: Jebbi Small; Stepson: Shane Pritchard (Maggie); brother: David Waller; grandchildren:  Lauren Barker (Joe), Trey Carr (Beth), Charles Small, Audrey Smith, Noah Pritchard, Vann Pritchard, and Blaise Pritchard; great-grandchildren: Colbie Barker, Cason Barker, A.C. Carr, Maggie Carr, Asher Carr, Hunter Le and Hudson Small.  Chuck was preceded in death by his parents: Charles Bryant Waller, Sr. and Nell Higgins Waller; siblings: James Waller, Gary Waller, Barbara Van Meter and Peggy Kersey; and his great-grandson: Colton Barker.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors with Rev. Greg Hatfield officiating. Interment will be in St. Teresa of Avila Columbarium.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. at Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors, 214 Davis Rd., Augusta, GA 30907.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home Resident’s Benefit Fund, 1101 15^th St, Augusta, GA 30901. The family would like to thank the 4^th floor nursing and medical staff involved with his daily care to include his sitters Joyce Spurlock and Eddie Mae Perry.
