“Charlie”
Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Thursday, December 16, 2010, Charlie Blank, 89, husband of Sally Blank.
Charlie Blank was born in 1921 and set the world on fire. He served in World War II in the Army Air Corps as a pilot. Mr. Blank came to Augusta in 1952, started a successful business, and immediately got involved in community work. He was a past president of the Augusta Jewish Community Center, Augusta Chamber of Commerce, a founding member of the Committee of 100, and of the United Jewish Appeal. He taught youngsters to swim, was an avid Japanese gardener, and enjoyed spending time at his second home in Beaufort, S.C. Charlie was a loving father and grandfather, and he was so proud of his 13 great-grandchildren who loved and adored him. He was a man that lived life on the fast-track and loved his red Corvette, speed boat and airplane. He will be sorely missed.
Family members include: his wife, Sally Blank, daughters: Donna Berman of Augusta, GA and Marjorie Dell’ario of Houston, TX, son: Barry Blank of Beaufort, S.C., 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Monday, December 20, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. in Westover Memorial Park. Honorary Pallbearers will be Abram Serotta, George Fuller, Mike Philpot, Peter Burnstein, Adam Blank, Bryan Berman, Stephen Berman, Brett Berman, Jason Dell’ario and Nick Shaw.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2607 Commons Blvd., Augusta, GA 30909.
The family will receive friends at the graveside after the service.
