Chris Wisner

Augusta, GA – Mr. Christopher Albert Wisner, 55, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Friday, June 26, 2015.

He was a native of Southfield, Michigan and lived there most of his life, graduating from Catholic Central High School. Chris worked as an apprentice tool and die maker and also as a medical assistant. He recently completed his Associate Degree in Information Technology in Charlotte, NC. He was known best for his generous heart, terrific sense of humor and warm smile. Chris did not let his cancer diagnosis overshadow his last year on earth. He moved to Augusta where he enjoyed spending time with his siblings, family and joined St. Mary on-the-Hill Catholic Church. Chris was warmly welcomed by the Men on a Mission Prayer Group that provided him with fellowship and support. This group also took him on a pilgrimage to the Shrine of The Most Blessed Sacrament in Hanceville, AL.

Chris was preceded in death by his parents, George and Frances Wisner. He is survived by a sister, Mary Frances Stafford (Dale), two brothers, George J. Wisner, II (Becky) and Stephen Gerard Wisner (Bob), four nieces, Ann Stafford Cook, Beth Stafford Cook, Reece Wisner and Mary Jo Wisner, a great-nephew, Joseph Cook, and great-niece, Brigid Cook.

Father Michael Hull will officiate the funeral Mass to celebrate Chris’s life on Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at 11:00 AM at St. Mary on-the-Hill Catholic Church, Augusta, GA. There will be a prayer vigil on Tuesday, June 30, at 6 PM followed by visitation from 6:30 until 8:00 PM at Thomas Poteet & Sons. Honorary pallbearers are members of Chris’s Men on a Mission Prayer Group, Gary Ackerman, George Ciamillo, Rob Cui, Michael Lammers, John Lint, Bill Markwalter, Ron St. Onge, Karl Quinn, William Salazar, Chad Sweeney, and Paul Zielinski.

The family would like to thank the staff of Augusta Gardens for their love and tender care of Chris during his time there.

Memorial donations may be made to the Men on a Mission Outreach Ministry, c/o St. Mary on-the-Hill Catholic Church, 1420 Monte Sano Ave, Augusta, GA 30904.
