Christy Brock Sanders
Augusta, GA – Mrs. Christy Lou Brock Sanders, wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister, passed away suddenly at her home on November 25, 2018 at the age of 58. Christy was the beloved daughter of Oscar and Geneva Brock of Winchester, Kentucky and was a long-time resident of Augusta, Georgia.
Christy was married to Carl Edward Sanders, Jr. of Augusta for thirty-three years.
Christy was born in Winchester, Kentucky on January 7, 1960. She graduated from George Rogers Clark High School in Winchester and attended the University of Kentucky, majoring in Graphic Design. She married Carl Sanders, Jr. in 1985 and had two beautiful children, Keaton and Carl III. Christy loved her community where she served on the Junior League of Augusta and the Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art Advisory Board. She was happiest spending time with her family, friends and pets. Christy, known as Bootsie to her loved ones, was most proud of her children and grandchildren. We will all miss her unending love and generosity.
Survivors in addition to her husband, include her three loving children, Keaton Marie Sanders of Nashville, TN, Carl Edward Sanders III of Augusta, and Caroline Sanders Hamburg (Billy) of Nashville. Christy is also survived by her precious grandchildren, Montgomery Cate and Will Hamburg of Nashville; her sisters, Michey Mills of Noblesville, IN, Sally Stanley (Bob) of Homosassa Springs, FL, and Zella Rosenthal (Vincent) of Winchester, KY; her mother-in-law, Betty Foy Sanders of Atlanta, GA; and her sister-in-law, Betty Sanders Botts (David) of Atlanta. Christy will be forever remembered by her numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends. She was predeceased by her parents and her father-in-law, Governor Carl Edward Sanders, Sr.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 4:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Mark Maund officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Burial will be private.
