Clara Mae Cook
Clara Mae Wright Cook, 76, of Augusta, Georgia, passed away Monday, November 28, 2011 at the Select Specialty Hospital in Augusta, Georgia. Clara was the youngest of five children born on a farm in East Tennessee near the community of Poplar Springs.
After spending many years traveling the country and abroad due to her husband’s military career, the Cook family finally settled in Augusta in 1969. A homemaker at heart, Clara enjoyed sewing, crocheting and caring for her family. Many will remember her from her efforts outside the home selling for Avon, Tupperware and working as a Wal-Mart door greeter in Augusta.
Clara was preceded in death by her parents Samuel and Bertha Wright, two sisters Mary Elizabeth Chadwell, and Nancy Coffee, both of Roane County, Tennessee and by her youngest son Michael Alan Cook, of Valdosta, Georgia.
Clara is survived by her husband of 58 years, Robert E. Cook, sister, Ruth Meir of Mt. Veron, Ohio, brother, Alfred Wright of Valdosta, Georgia, son, Randy Cook and wife Laurie of Martinez, daughter-in-law Leona Cook of Valdosta, Georgia, four grandchildren, Christopher Cook and Jason Cook of Valdosta, Georgia, Ashleigh and Taylor Cook of Martinez, Georgia, and one great granddaughter, Amberlee Cook of Martinez.
The funeral will be a graveside service at Bellevue Memorial Gardens on Friday, December 2, 2011 at 11:00.
