Augusta, GA – Mr. Clarence B. Shirey, Sr., 91, entered into rest on Monday, November 10, 2014 at the Georgia War Memorial Nursing Home.
Mr. Shirey was born in Whitfield, Alabama to Joseph and Lorene Shirey. He attended the University of South Carolina and served his country during World War II as a Navy Technician Medic on the Pacific theater of operations. Mr. Shirey was a retired district manager for the Southland Life Insurance Company for over 35 years.
Family members include children: Barbara Guidry of Evans, Ronald Shirey of Martinez and Clarence B. Shirey, Jr. of Avon Park, Florida; six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter; and his sole surviving sister: Jo-Nell Shirey of Augusta. He was preceded in death by his wife: Etta Mae Shirey; his mother and father; and his siblings: Lou, Mary, Flora, Bruce and Jimmy.
A funeral service will be Thursday, November 13, 2014, at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel at Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Bill Branch officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
