Clarence Shorter
Augusta, GA - Sgt. First Class (RET) Clarence E. Shorter, 88, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 17, 2018
The family will honor his service to his country with a graveside service with full military honors at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 in Bellevue Memorial Gardens.
He was an avid outdoorsman, hunter, fisherman, and thoroughly loved his adopted home state of Georgia. Mr. Shorter, originally from West Virginia, joined the Army at the age of 17. He proudly served his country for 25 years, including two Combat tours in the Korean and Vietnam Wars, where he earned a Bronze Star and multiple other Service medals. Following his military service, he worked another 21 years at the Medical College of Georgia. He will be lovingly remembered by family and friends, from Oregon to Germany.
He is survived by his wife Johanna E. Shorter, two children and two grandsons. He is predeceased by his parents and four siblings.
The family extends its sincere appreciation to Trinity Hospice and the staff of 9 East-Eisenhower Medical Center for all their kindness and compassion.
