Mr. Clifford N. Meldrum
December 7-1924 - July 24, 2009
Clifford N. Meldrum moved on from this world to a better place on Friday, July 24th at 8:12 pm. He passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family and loved ones. Cliff was the proud father of 10 children: Annett Sonderby, Babette Moss, Michelle McDermott, Frank Meldrum, Paul Meldrum, JoAnn Werdann, Angela Jackson, Rick Meldrum, Stephen Meldrum and Renee Meldrum; 2 stepchildren: Harris Abelman and Heidi Brown; 21 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. He was also known as “dad” or “papa” to countless others. He will be lovingly remembered as a man of faith, love, generosity of spirit, and kindness. His sense of humor and good nature were obvious to all he met. Anyone that knew him will consider themselves better for having been allowed to be a part of his life. Cliff was preceded in death by his loving wife and best friend Ronni.
He was born in Pontiac, raised in Algonac, Michigan where he had 5 brothers. Cliff served his country proudly in the US Army during World War II. He lived out many happy years in other parts of the US before settling in Georgia in 1982 where he met the kind and beautiful Ronni Abelman Selwyn. Cliff and Ronni were married in September 1984 and were a true example of wedded bliss. Their relationship inspired and touched so many lives. Ronni’s passing in 2008 left an empty space in his heart.
Some of Cliff’s favorite times were spent sharing moments with his family and riding his motorcycle with his sons. If you gave him the chance, Cliff would tell you “God loaned me 10 of the greatest kids”. The truth is God loaned us a bright star of a man for 84 years.
Cliff will undoubtedly be missed by all who were Blessed to have known him. He was one of a kind.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 28, 2009 (time to announced) at West Town Community Church, 779 N. Belair Road, Evans. The family will receive friends prior to the service. Cliff’s son Paul Meldrum , preacher of NorthPoint, Flagstaff, Arizona, and Pastor Rod Addison of West Town Church will be officiating. The burial will follow at Westover Memorial Park.
