Clifford Ward Sr. at age 91, went home to be with Lord on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at 5:30 pm at the Place At Martinez, where he lived since 2022.
Clifford was born March 11, 1933 in Augusta Ga, to the son of the late Derry Ward and the late Susie Mae Mills. Clifford married his sweetheart, Rosa on her 14th birthday. Clifford was an active member of his Church in Harlem, MT Tabor Baptist, until his health started declining. Clifford had many hobbies that he enjoyed doing with Rosa by his side. Clifford loved riding his bright yellow motorcycle all over town in parades and in the mountains. Clifford also loved traveling all over the world with Rosa and taking cruises. During the hot summer months, Clifford enjoyed camping. They were members of the Pine Point camping club for many years.
Clifford was the old man that wanted to stay feeling and looking young. In his 80s, Clifford decided to buy himself a Jet Ski (He fell off more than we can count but he never stopped riding and enjoying life with his son and grandkids).
Clifford is following the deaths of Rosa Ward (wife), Brenda Hansen(sister), Nancy Griffey (sister), Robert Smith(grandchild), and Stephanie Ward (grandchild). Clifford will live on in the memories of his two children Clifford Ward Jr. (Kathy), Susan Smith, two sisters Betty Hall and Phyllis Landers, grandchildren Rosemary Gilman (Donald), Jonathan Smith (Tammie), great grandchildren Eric Gilaman (Mckinzie), Brittany Gilman, Morgan Smith, Walker Smith, great-great grandchild Sawyer Gilman and many nieces and nephews.
The viewing will be from 6pm-8pm on Monday, June 10, 2024 at Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors.
The graveside service will be at 10 am on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at Westover Memorial Park at 2601 Wheeler Road in Augusta.
There will be a celebration of life for the family following the service on Tuesday at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church at 739 US-78, Harlem Ga.
