Collin Gibson

Collin James Gibson, 29, entered eternal rest at home on November 4, 2022, following a nearly 2-year battle against a very rare cancer. He was born on May 22, 1993, to Andrew and Tambrey (Harrington) Gibson. He grew up as a “military brat,” living in multiple locations across the United States as well as abroad in the United Kingdom. He spent his high school and adult years in the greater Augusta, GA area.
Collin graduated from Grovetown High School and later from Miller-Motte College as a Laboratory Technician, working for Shepeard Community Blood Center in Augusta. A life-long learner, Collin also graduated from Augusta Technical College with a degree in Information Technology just prior to receiving his cancer diagnosis in December 2020.
He enjoyed his years as a Cub Scout and Boy Scout and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He loved history and often listened to audio books on numerous topics, although he favored the fantasy and Sci-Fi genres. He was a beloved member of the Augusta Goth Community, participating in many of their events where he continued to have an attitude of service, helping anyone in need. He often put others before himself – from helping a lady safely to her car, making trinkets for friends, or just lending his incredibly soft heart that could listen to a friend for hours.
Those left to cherish his memory are his parents, Andrew, and Tambrey (Harrington) Gibson; sister, Katrina Gibson; grandmothers Caren Gibson and Eva Harrington; his Cardigan Welsh Corgi, Arawyn; and countless others whose lives Collin touched.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, November 11, 2022, at 1:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Dr. Don Prosser officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:30 until 1:00 P.M.
The family is forever grateful for the many thoughts and prayers over the past two years as Collin battled this terrible disease.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Collin Gibson’s name to one of the following cancer-related charities: Minkahz NETs Mission, https://www.netsmission.org and / or the Georgia Cancer Center Biorepository, https://www.augusta.edu/cancer/ringing-the-bell.php
