Courtenay Williamson
Augusta, GA – Courtenay M. Williamson, 57, died Sunday, September 21, 2014 at Trinity Hospital. A native Augustan, she was preceded in death by her parents, J. North Williamson, Sr. and Mildred Wilson, and her grandparents Charles J. Williamson, Sr. and Maude Stovall Williamson.
Courtenay was a devoted healthcare professional; starting as a respiratory therapist, teaching EMT school, serving as a paramedic with several ambulance services as well as working in the University Hospital Emergency room. She was a member of the Disaster Medical Response Team, Georgia-3, based in Atlanta. She was a life-long member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and was very active as a youth, serving as head acolyte, and participating in youth activities.
Beyond her work, Courtenay never met a stranger and readily gave of herself to others, earning her many devoted friends. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Courtenay is survived by her brother, J. North Williamson, Jr., Fredericksburg, VA; her sister: Caryl Williamson, Jackson, WY; her uncles Charles J. Williamson, Jr. (Betty) and Marc S. Williamson, Sr. (Susan); a nephew, a niece, several cousins, and many dear and loyal friends.
The family thanks the physicians, nurses, and ICU staff of Trinity Hospital for their care and support.
A memorial service will be held at St. Augustine Episcopal Church, 3321 Wheeler Road, Augusta, GA on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. with the Reverend Jason Haddox officiating. Interment will follow in the church yard. The family will receive friends following the burial.
