Craig Nichols
Augusta, GA – Mr. Craig Pomeroy Nichols, 56, died on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at University Hospital.
Craig Nichols was a native of Augusta, Georgia. He was the son of Alicia Bortner Nichols and Pomeroy Nichols, Jr. He is survived by his beloved sister Claudia Nichols, his dog Buddy, and the many friends whom he loved.
Craig began his professional life working in the hospitality industry. He was a co-owner of San Miguel’s Restaurant and RSVP Catering and Café. He later became an insurance agent for ACHS Insurance, and worked more recently for Benefit Coordinators.
In both his professional and his personal life Craig was always available for people who reached out to him. He knew only friends; he never made an enemy. He had a wonderful sense of humor with a streak of mischief. He seldom passed up an opportunity to play sometimes elaborate, though harmless, practical jokes on his friends. Craig and his sister have been animal lovers since childhood. They were always happy to bring stray animals home and adopt them into their family.
Craig served as the Vice President of ALAS (Asociacion Latina de Servicios del CSRA). He was committed to helping poor people of the CSRA. One of his dreams was to see the completion of the Centro Medico clinic project, a clinic whose purpose is to serve the most needy people in the Augusta community.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Church of the Good Shepherd, 2230 Walton Way. The Rev. Robert Fain will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Craig Nichols to: CSRA Humane Society, 425 Wood St., Augusta, GA 30904 (csrahumanesociety.org); or ALAS (Asociacion Latina de Servicios del CSRA), P.O. Box 599, Augusta, Georgia 30903 (alascsra.org)
