DAISY POLETHA (GREGORY) MOON died Wednesday, December 2, at Eastview Nursing Center in Macon at the age of 92. Daisy was born March 12, 1917, in Pierce City, Missouri, daughter of William Gregory and Anna Catherine (Yoachum) Gregory. She married November 10, 1934, in Webb City, Missouri, James Robert Moon, son of James Jasper Moon and Armilda Olivet (Moon) Moon, who predeceased her June 11, 1988. Daisy was proud to have served beside her husband in the founding years of the Macon Rescue Mission and the Augusta Rescue Mission.
Survivors include a brother (John Edward Gregory, Trenton, Mo.), sister (Lovena Caroline Litty, Overland Park, Kans.), four children (Gwendolyn Sue Beck, Macon; Geneva Jean Moon, Tulsa, Okla.; James Robert Moon, Jr., Gainesville, Va.; and Michael Frederick Moon, Taylorsville, N.C.), eight grandchildren (Daniel John Emig, Denver, Colo.; Samuel Erwin Goodwin, Sarasota, Fla.; David Mark Emig, Elko, Ga.; Aaron Eugene Goodwin, New York, N.Y.; James Robert Moon, III, Falls Church, Va.; Michael Anthony Moon, St. Louis, Mo.; Joshua Bryan Moon, Los Angeles, Calif.; and Daisy Nicole Waksmunski, Taylorsville, N.C.), 14 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. She was predeceased by a sister (Edith Pearl Gregory) and brother (William Eugene Gregory).
Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 6, 2009 at 1:30 P.M. at Lake Park Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Gosey and Rev. Earl Saxon officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
