David Lewis Chambers, Sr.
Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Saturday, December 30, 2017, Mr. David “Lewis” Chambers, Sr., 82, loving husband of the late Sarah Chambers.
Mr. Chambers was a former member and deacon of Northwest Baptist Church in Concord, NC, a founding member of Bible Baptist Church in Matthews, NC, and a former member of Five Forks Baptist Church in Cedar Grove NC, where he grew up. He was a good Christian man and taught Sunday School most of his life. He retired after being self-employed for many years as a Wynn Oil Company distributor, where he received much recognition and awards as a top salesman and distributor for the company. Mr. Chambers was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
Family members include his children: Deborah Baker (David), Gail Cook, Rick Chambers (Ruby), and David Chambers, Jr. (Teresa); 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; sisters: Lillie Mae Zimmerman and Gladys Albert; and brothers: John H. Chambers and Thomas Chambers.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents: Percy Lee and Etta Mae Chambers; sisters: Elizabeth Harris and Ethel Cash; and brother: Lee Chambers.
The funeral service will be Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. John Bolin officiating. Burial will follow in Westover Memorial Park.
