David Charles Gipson

Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Saturday, March 4, 2023, Mr. David Charles Gipson, 71, loving husband of Frances Gipson.

David was an Army veteran and served two tours in Vietnam totaling 18 months. While there he was assigned to the 588 Engineer Battalion, 20th Brigade supporting the 25th Infantry then stationed at CuChi Vietnam in 1969. He was wounded by a sniper in June 1970 and received a Purple Heart. He was honorably discharged on July 26, 1977 at the rank of Staff Sergeant. He remained in Germany, married and had two daughters and one stepdaughter. David was a CDL driver while in Germany and continued this line of work when he returned to the United States in 1987.

He inherited his love of the big trucks from his father and his travels took him to many European countries. When he returned to the United States, he traveled mostly in the Southeast. He loved gardening and loved fixing things.

Mr. Gipson is survived by his wife, Frances, his daughters Lisa Marie Gipson and Jessica Gipson-Heil (Chris); grandson Jordan, stepdaughter Alexandra (Peter); brother Gary (Barbara) of Yuba City, California, and sisters Barbara Durham from Carthage, Missouri, Bonnie Ramirez (Rafa), Lorie Reeves and Cheryl Banks. He is predeceased by his twin brother Dennis Gipson, brothers Wayne Gipson, Mark Gipson, Chuck Gipson and sister Sharon Gipson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, in memory of Dave Gipson may be sent to the CSRA Humane Society, 425 Wood St, Augusta, GA 30904.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at 12 Noon in Westover Memorial Park.
