Evans, GA – SPC. (Ret.) David Jason Ewing, 49, a proud veteran of the United States Army entered into eternal rest on April 21, 2024 in Evans, GA. He was born on November 7, 1974 in Jacksonville, Florida to parents Gary Eugene Ewing, (deceased) and Tamera Sue Ewing. He grew up in Orlando, Florida where he attended Rollins College and later graduated from Helms College in Augusta, Georgia.
David enlisted in the United States Army in 2004 and served honorably as a Geospatial Engineer. He recently retired after 20 years of service. He received numerous awards and commendations during his time in the Army. His career included wartime tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, where he demonstrated unwavering dedication.
David is preceded in death by his father, grandfather, Robert Ewing, grandmother, Aline Kessinger and father in law, Wendell Goodman. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Wendy Goodman Ewing and son, William Rexton Ewing; brother, Jeremy Ewing (Jessica); sister, Rhiannon Martini (Kyle); grandmother, Eileen Ewing; mother in law, Eula Goodman; brother in law, Wendell Goodman II; nieces Izabella Ewing and Angelina Ewing; nephews, Teagan Ewing, Sheamus Ewing, Wendell Goodman III and Ethan Goodman and a host of friends and extended family. His loved ones will remember David's deep love of great food and his passion for cooking, especially Asian cuisine. He relished sharing a great meal and hearty laughter with family and friends. If he wasn't in the kitchen trying out a new recipe he loved working on digital art or reading and researching more about food and culture. David touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, and leaves behind cherished memories that will forever echo in our hearts.
A service with the United States Army Honor Guard will be held on Monday, April 29, 2024 at 10:30 AM at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his honor to the DAV Charitable Service Trust, https://cst.dav.org.
