Evans, GA – Entered into rest Saturday, November 20, 2021, Mr. David Lee Morris, 79. He was born October 19,1942 in Appling, GA to Edith Tankersley Morris Barton and the late Cluese Eugene Morris

David graduated from the Academy of Richmond County in 1962; after attending Bayvale Elementary and Murphy Junior High. In his youth, he attended Bayvale Baptist Church where he was active in youth and choir. David served 2 years active duty in the US Navy. He was assigned to the USS Antietam (CV-36) stationed in Pensacola, FL and the USS Oxford (AGTR-1/AG-159) out of Norfolk, VA. Following the military, David and Diana owned and operated Morris & Onstott Magnavox Home Entertainment Center in Augusta, GA for 23 years. He enjoyed camping and boating with his family while his daughters were growing up, as well as, fishing and hunting. After retirement in the mid-90’s, David traveled by motorcycle with the American Legion Riders and Patriot Guard Riders to many places throughout the US, as well as, with his wife and family.

Family members include his loving wife of 57 years: Diana Onstott Morris; 3 daughters: Donna Morris Beverly (Brent) of Appling, Dawn Morris Murray (Jimmy) of Grovetown and Darlene Morris Harrison (Floyd) of Evans; mother: Edith T. Barton of Martinez and 2 sisters: Ruby Van Enkenvoort and Debra M. Ford both of Augusta; grandchildren: Madison Beverly Johnson (Hunter), Mason Beverly, Marlee Beverly, Paige Daudelin, Ryan Daudelin, Floyd “Montgomery” Harrison IV (Emily), Gabriel Harrison, Abram Harrison, Christian Harrison and his first great granddaughter: Ansley Danielle Johnson; sisters in law: Rebecca Mileski (Gary) of Pikeville NC, Francis Holley of North Augusta, SC, Janis Richardson of Grovetown, and Betsy Rivera (Ceasar) of Evans; aunts: Mary Tankersley and Nell Hoover and many nieces and nephews, as well as, cousins from the Morris and Tankersley families. David was also survived by his loyal canine companion, Tarbaby. He was preceded in death by his father: Cluese Eugene Morris; sister: Miriam White (Dyersburg, TN); granddaughter: Morgan Danielle Beverly; grandparents: Cluese and Kate Morris and Thomas and Emmie Tankersley.

The funeral service will be held Friday, November 26, 2021, at 11:00 A.M. at Woodlawn Baptist Church with Rev. Floyd Harrison III officiating. Interment will follow in Bellevue Memorial Gardens, where US Navy honors will be rendered. Pallbearers will be his grandsons. The American Legion Riders and Patriot Guard Riders will serve as honorary funeral escorts.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Woodlawn Baptist Church Building Fund, 4943 Columbia Road, Grovetown, GA 30813 or the American Legion Legacy Scholarship, www.legion.org/scholarship .

The family will receive friends Friday morning prior to the service from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. at the church.
