David R. Reed

Grovetown, GA – Entered into rest on Friday, June 16, 2023, Mr. David Ross Reed, 76, loving husband of Mrs. Thom Do Reed. Additional family members include his daughters: Tina Reed Yaun and Phuong (Donna) Phan (Long); sons: David Reed, Jr. (Valery); and Buddy Reed (Tanya); grandchildren: Andrew Phan (Angela Tran); Cristine Phan (Phuong Le); Thu Thuy Phan (Phol Lam); Hung Phan, Dawson Reed, Hudson Reed, Brooklin Reed, Matthew Reed, Tyana Reed & Lorenn Reed: great-grandchildren Aaron Phan, Aiden Phan, Maximus Le, Emma Lam, Ethan Lam.

David was born on March 16, 1947, to Edward James Reed, Sr. and Ella Mae Jarrett Reed in Kendall, Florida. He had five brothers: Jack, Bob, Dick, Skip, Harry, and one sister Beverly. After graduating high school in 1965, he was drafted into the US Army in Coral Gable, Fl and served in the Signal Corps for 22-1/2 years, including five tours in Vietnam until retiring as a First Sargent in 1988. Following retirement, he worked for Office Depot for 18 years.

He was a loving husband to his wife of 50 years, Thom, whom he considered his rock. As a father and grandfather, he was a role model and provider to his family. He loved sports and being outdoors. He coached youth recreation baseball and football for several years in the 1980s and 1990s. He also enjoys attending baseball, football, soccer, basketball, and track meets to support his kids and grandkids. He always cherishes spending time with family and friends.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, June 24, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. in the Thomas Poteet & Son chapel with Fr. Martino Nguyen officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:00 noon until the time of service. Please, no monetary gifts per the family’s request.
