David M. Stennis

David Merritt Stennis, 76, of Augusta GA went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday May 21, 2024.

David received a BS in Civil Engineering from Mississippi State University and was the site manager at Plant Vogtle overseeing the building of cooling towers 1 and 2. He later started Stennis Construction and was in business for more than 25 years. 

But here are the most important things we loved about David: (known by those close to him as “Boss”)

He loved Martha Stennis from the day he met her the day until the day he took his last breath. He loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

He loved his mom and dad. He loved his brother and sister.  He loved being a dad to his three boys. He loved his grandchildren and their mothers. 

He loved growing up in Mississippi. He loved his work and the guys that helped him get it done. He loved playing football, riding bulls and motorcycles, lifting weights, blue bell homemade vanilla ice cream, and ice cold gas station Diet Cokes.

The Bible tells us that’s it’s good to live a quiet life and that it’s good for a man to enjoy his labor and David Stennis did both. 

A memorial service will be Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at 4:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Pastor Mark Scholten officiating.
