Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Thursday, September 16, Lewis "Dean" Poteet, Jr., 75, loving husband of 51 years to Charlotte Poteet.

Dean was a native of Hephzibah, where he spent most of his life. He was a 1964 graduate of Hephzibah High School. “Butter Bean” was a member of Briar Creek Sportsman’s Club for nearly 30 years. He was also a member of the Pinetuckey Shooting Range for many years. He was a lifelong hunter and avid shooter. “Pops” as his grandchildren referred to him, was a loving son, husband, father and grandfather.

Family members in addition to his wife include his sons: Trey Poteet (Heather) and Andrew Poteet; grandchildren: Sadie, Eli, Jaycie, Daniel and Jake; sister: Mary Ann Owens (Billy); brother: Joe Poteet (Melody); nephew: Brad Poteet (Kelli). He was predeceased by his parents: Louis Dean Poteet and Mary Snell Poteet.

The graveside service will be held Sunday, September 19 at 2:00 P.M. at Magnolia Cemetery 702 3rd Street, Augusta GA 30901 with Dr. Ted Oellerich officiating. The family will greet friends at the grave.

Memorial contributions may be made to Pinetuckey CSRA Youth Shooting Foundation. Donations can be mailed to Mr. Charles Dolan at 1002 Katherine Street, unit 5 Augusta, GA 30904.
