Evans, GA - Debra Dunlap Hatcher went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, December 13, 2021. She was surrounded by her husband, Billy, and their four daughters: Haley, Joanna, Sarah, and Lauren.
Debra grew up in Augusta and graduated from Augusta State University with a BBA with a major in accounting. She married Billy in 1974 and they had four children: Haley Hatcher Krouse (Brian), Joanna Hatcher Miller (Tony), Sarah Abigail Hatcher, and Lauren Taylor Hatcher. She had four grandsons: William Granville Krouse, Wyatt Glenn Krouse, David George Miller, and Drew Grayson Miller. Debra had three sisters: Glenda Jo (Ronnie), Brenda (Paul), and Joy (Johnny) and many nieces and nephews.
Debra was the daughter of Glenn and Lois Jean Dunlap. She was born in Tokyo, Japan on June 24, 1953, while her dad was deployed with the United States Army. She lived with her family in Japan and Germany before moving to Augusta, GA.
After a short business career, Debra stayed at home to raise their four daughters. In addition to being a wonderful wife and mother, she was an accomplished golfer and won several tournaments in Augusta and the surrounding area. Debra’s strongest trait was her relationship with the Lord. She has always been very active in her church and taught children’s Sunday school for many years.
Teaching the truths of scripture to children was one of Debra’s greatest privileges. The Children’s Education Building (currently under construction) was a project close to Debra’s heart. Should you so desire, please consider making a donation of any amount to Christ Church Presbyterian Children’s Education Fund.
