Mr. Dennis P. McBride
Augusta, GA – Mr. Dennis Patrick McBride, 75, beloved husband of 50 years to Harriett E. McBride, went to glory on Friday, April 20, 2012 at home with his family by his side.
Mr. McBride was a native of Laredo, TX. He served 14 years in the US Army, including two tours in Vietnam as a pilot with the Army Signal Corps. He was a founder (1973) and elder of the Alleluia Community. He served as its overall coordinator beginning in 1977 before retiring as elder emeritus in 2011. Mr. McBride was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. He devoted his life to building Christian community and worked to heal divisions in the Body of Christ. He enjoyed working with his hands and serving others. Mr. McBride was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many.
Family members in addition to his wife include children, Sarah Wilby (Mark), Meg Starzec (Doug), Dennis McBride, Jr. (Susie), Colleen Hall (Chris), Joe McBride (Angela), BettAnne, Peter, Dale, Patrick, Mark, grandchildren: AnnaKate Keller, Micah, Luke, Lucia, Sean, Shea, and Ryan Wilby; Elle, DJ, Cassidy, and Annalese Starzec; Marin, Dennis Patrick McBride III, Emma, Collin, and Alley McBride; Chloe, Christopher, Carson, Carrie, CaseyAnne, and Caitlin Hall; Madison, Meghan, Mia, James, and Brennan McBride; Atlas McBride and Abel Meyer; Aiden McBride. He is survived by his sisters Joan Fusselman of Pearland, TX, Joyce Yeary of San Antonio, TX, Patty McCoy of Lake Palo Pinto, TX, Margaret McBride of San Antonia, TX, and Kathy Netzer of San Antonia, TX.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, April 23, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. John Lyons celebrant. Burial will follow at the Alleluia Cemetery in Dearing, GA. A Rosary will be held on Sunday afternoon at 4:45 p.m. at Alleluia Community School, 2819 Peach Orchard Rd, Augusta,GA 30906, following the Rosary, the family will receive friends at 5:15 p.m. and a wake service will be at 6:30.
