Augusta, GA – Went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, August 13, 2014, Dewey A. Jones, 87, beloved husband of Mrs. Sloane Crawford.

Dewey was a member and elder of Druid Park Bible Church. He was the Founder of Operation Salvation. Mr. Jones served in the United States Navy for 30 years and was a veteran of the World War II, Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was an avid fisherman and loved flying. Mr. Jones built and maintained flight simulators. He was a loving husband, a great father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Family members in addition to his wife include son and daughter-in-law: Dewey Michael and Julie Jones of Martinez; daughter: Micki Jones of Hilton Head Island, SC, daughter and son-in-law: Melody and Fred Thomas of Brevard, NC; brother: Theodore Jones; sisters: Bettye Beard and Sarah Lawson; grandchildren Melissa Christensen, Matthew Christensen, Michael Christensen, Brad Jones, Robbie Jennings and Amanda Jennings; and two great grandchildren. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years Mrs. Katherine “Kitty” Jones.

A funeral service will be Saturday, August 16, 2014 at 1:30 P.M. in the Chapel at Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Robert “Bobby” Lehn officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens with Full Military Honors.
