Dewey B. Marsh
Augusta, GA –Entered into rest Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at his residence. Mr. Dewey B. Marsh, 93, is survived by his daughters: Marian G. Wielinga (Roel) of Thomson, Phyllis A. Marsh of Thomson and Abbie M. Pumarejo (Francisco) of Shanghai, China, his 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters Melonee Brown of Careyville, Florida and Lois Dillworth of Sanford, Florida.
Mr. Marsh was a native of Holmes County, Florida, resident of Augusta for 69 years. He was a WWII Veteran and recipient of the Purple Heart Medal, GO 267, Hq. 37th Inf. Div. 19 in August of 1945 as well as the Asiatic Campaign Medal with two (2) Bronze Service Stars, the Philippine Liberation Medal with (one) 1 Bronze Service Star, Combat Infantryman Badge, the Good Conduct Medal SO 35 Hq. 148th Inf., the American Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
He was a watch repairman and jeweler for 60 years, owning his own business in Augusta, Ye Olde Watch Shoppe for 40. He was a long-time co-chair of the seeing and hearing committee of the Fleming Lions Club, and an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, serving as an usher and greeter for many years. He was a true gentleman; a loving, supportive husband and a devoted father and grandfather.
A Cremation Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Thomas Healy officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the Narthex of the church.
