Mrs. Dianne M. Harper
Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on September 2, 2012 at her residence, Mrs. Dianne Martin Harper, 63, beloved wife of John I. “Jay” Harper.
Dianne was born and raised in Augusta. She attended Richmond Academy, and graduated from Mercer University. After returning to Augusta, as she raised her family she began a lifelong service of volunteering through her church and in the community. She was a Hospice volunteer with St. Joseph Hospice, a Greeter at University Hospital, and participated in many service projects through the Junior League. She was a member of Rivergate Garden Club. As a member of Lakemont Presbyterian Church, Dianne participated in numerous Bible studies and hosted one in her home for many years. She also served as a Stephen Minister. A strong believer in the power of prayer, she served on the prayer chain for many years. She enjoyed meeting and serving people through the Food Pantry Ministry. Dianne especially enjoyed mentoring students in the reading program at Heritage Academy.
Family members in addition to her husband of 45 years, include daughters: Amy H. Fritchman and husband Mark, Anne H. Ethier and husband Robert; grandchildren: Asa, Eli, and Zoe Fritchman and Autumn Ethier; sister: Madeline M. Bowen and husband Dudley; brother: J. Milton Martin, Jr. and wife Kathy; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Mrs. Harper was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. John M. “Pepper” Martin and Elsie Harrison Martin.
The family is deeply appreciative for the special services of Katrina Hollis, Mary Rushin, Sherry Clemons, Teresa Hartfield, and Clara Caraway. Grateful appreciation is also extended to Ashleigh Ford, R. N. and Odyssey Hospice.
The family will receive friends at visitation from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Tuesday evening at Thomas Poteet & Son, 214 Davis Rd., Augusta, GA 30907.
Following a private burial, a memorial service will be held Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church with Dr. Tripp Martin officiating.
