Mr. Melvin was a native of Fort Myers, FL and had resided in Martinez since 1985. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in Vietnam and was a Dental Laboratory Tech with Civil Service at Ft. Gordon.
Family members in addition to his wife include his daughter: Christiana Kirkpatrick and husband Thomas of Martinez; son: Matthew Melvin and wife Nikki of Martinez; granddaughter: Katherine Kirkpatrick and brothers: Ronnie Melvin, Willard Melvin, Mark Melvin, Clifford Grimmett and Jerry Melvin.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Billy Dugan officiating with Military Honors. The family will receive friends following the service on Wednesday until 4:00 P.M. at the funeral home. A private interment service will be Thursday, July 30, 2009 in Beaufort National Cemetery, Beaufort, SC.
