Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Saturday, June 17, 2023, Mrs. Dolly S. Burns, 99, loving wife of the late Thomas Burns.
Dolly was a lifelong resident of Augusta. She graduated from Toccoa School of Nursing, working as a registered nurse at the Augusta VA.
Family members include her niece: Patricia Farmer: nephews: Joseph Casey Szocinski (Cleavie) and Robert S. Szocinski (Nancy); nieces: Cathy Mills (Mark) and Nancy Starnes-Cohen (Hal); and great nephew: Derek C. Farmer (Qing). In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her son, Rufus F. McAllister III.
The family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice and Enchanted Hearts Home Health Care, especially Quanisha Vera and staff, for all their professional care.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church with Fr. Eric Biddy officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 AM, at the church.
