Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Thursday, November 6, 2014, Dolly Catherine Bentley Hogan, daughter of the late Walter F. Bentley and Mamie Shields Bentley.

Mrs. Hogan was a lifelong resident of Augusta, GA. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Augusta and the Mary-Martha Sunday School Class. Mrs. Hogan attended Tubman High School and graduated from the University of Georgia with AB, M.Ed. and S.Ed. Degrees. She was a member of Kappa Delta and Alpha Delta Kappa Sororities. Mrs. Hogan was a retired teacher in Richmond County and also taught at Augusta State University. She was a volunteer at the Augusta Richmond County Museum as well as the Columbia Augusta Medical Center. Mrs. Hogan was a member of the Augusta Women’s Club, Retired Teachers Association, the Historical Society, the Tubman Alumni Association and the American Association of University Women.

Surviving family members include her son: Spurgeon G. Hogan, Jr. (Barbara) of Hillsborough, NJ; daughter: Elaine Hogan Crosby of Poughkeepsie, NY; sister: Phyllis B. Fox (Vernon); four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; four great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be on Monday, November 10, 2014 at 12:00 Noon at First Baptist Church Storey Chapel Dr. Greg DeLoach officiating. Interment will follow at West View Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Augusta at 3500 Walton Way, Augusta, GA 30909.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 11:00 A.M. at the church chapel.
