Donald G. Mode MD
Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Monday, October 13, 2014, Dr. Donald Gene Mode, 80, loving husband to Tia Teresa Mode.
Dr. Mode was born in Jeffersonville Indiana on August 11, 1934, and has lived in Augusta for the last 20 years.
He enlisted in the US Marine Corps in 1953 and served his country honorably in Korea. He earned his medical degree from Indiana University in 1964, finished his general surgery residency at Kern County General hospital in 1967, and completed his urology residency at Vanderbilt in 1970. For fifty years, he devoted his life to practice of medicine. As a urologist he was afforded the opportunity to, in his words, "surgically and medically treat both male and female patients of all ages."
He had a gregarious, compassionate, and endearing personality that drew people to him and instantly call him friend.
He will be dearly missed by family and friends. Family members in addition to his wife include his sons: Steven, Kevin, Michael, Richard and his wife Michelle, Matt, Ian and his wife Kimberly; daughters: Donna and her husband Jim, Kathleen and her husband Rob, Bonnie and her husband Daniel; 20 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and his brother: Edward Mode. He is preceded in death by his parents: George and Ellen Mode; siblings: Robert Mode, Mary Lee Wilhelmus and Martha Jane Johnson.
A celebration of life will be Friday, October 17, 2014, at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Dr. Tim Owings.
