Donald L. Weegar
Evans, GA – Donald Lloyd Weegar was born August 17, 1932 (Massena, NY). He went to heaven March 13, 2023, to be with our Heavenly Father where he is surrounded by angels. He was the son of Ruben and Olive Carr Weegar.
Donald Lloyd Weegar is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Theresa Weegar of 68 years of marriage. He is also survived by their four children, Michael, Allen, Michelle, and Timothy (Josie). Donald’s grandchildren include Rachael, Elizabeth, Melissa, Michael Lee, Ashley, April, Andrew, Bethanny, Justin, Drew, and Benjamin. Grandpa Weegar is also survived by numerous great grandchildren.
Donald grew up in Ogdensburg, NY. He attended Ogdensburg School and graduated from Roethls Business Institute. At the age of 19 he entered the United States Navy and served our country through the Korean War. During this journey he was a very caring, kind, and devoted man to his fellow sailors.
After serving in the Navy, Donald was employed by the New York State Department of Mental Hygiene for many years. He was also a self-employed painter both in New York and Florida. Eventually, Donald was employed by Publix Supermarket where he continued to make a difference for others.
In his spare time, he loved sports including hockey and baseball. He was an avid fan of Canadian hockey and New York Yankees baseball. While living in Georgia he discovered the Atlanta Braves. Donald was a member of the Knights of Columbus and American Legion. While living in Florida, he was an active member in Catholic church activities.
Donald’s family would like for him to be remembered as a most kind, generous and loving man. Donald was not afraid to share a smile, hug, or his heart with anyone.
The funeral service will be held Friday, March 17, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Tom Kalliokoski officiating. Friends may view this service at :

Interment will be Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. in Beaufort National Cemetery.
