Donald Widener

Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, Mr. Donald F. Widener, 74, loving husband of Gail Magruder Widener for the last 52 years.

Donald was a native of Augusta, GA. He attended Butler High School and graduated from Brewton-Parker College. His grandfather was Coroner Nathan F. Widener Sr.  Donald worked along with his father, N. Francis Widener, Jr who founded Widener Hardware and Widener Arms and Tackle. Donald later founded Artistic Arms Engraving and Classic Arms Collection which incorporated the best engravers in world on his projects for golfers and many others. Later, he transitioned into real estate leading Property Systems Real Estate and most recently worked for Key Realty Partners.

Donald loved to be the boss. He was Uncle Spank to his nieces and nephews, proud Dad to his four boys, and Don to his buddies. He was a coach on the boys’ soccer teams (The Bullets), taught them to hunt and fish and how to be men. He adored his grandchildren and spoiled them rotten while always having Gail by his side.

Family members in addition to his wife include his sons: Donald Frank Widener, Jr., Christopher Lee Widener, Ryan Magruder Widener (Kristen), and Matthew Gabriel Widener; grandchildren: Amberlyn Widener, Anderson Widener, Walker Widener, and Ella Claire Widener; sister: Julie Baxter (William); and brother: N. Lee Widener (Pamela); and nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents: N. Francis Widener Jr. and Edith Chavous Widener.

A memorial service will be held Monday, November 27, 2023, at 5:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors.
