Doris Walker Kenny

Augusta, GA – Our dear mother, Doris Walker Kenny, age 94 entered into her eternal resting place on Sunday, October 27, 2024. 

She was born in Greensboro, GA on February 12, 1930, to the late Edwin Walker and Mary Ellenburg Walker. Doris graduated from Greensboro High School in 1947 and married her high school sweetheart, Joe Kenny, in 1949. They relocated from their hometown to Atlanta, Georgia and resided there for 18 years before moving to Augusta, GA. 

Soon after moving to Augusta, she became an active member of National Hills Baptist Church and served in many capacities. She loved her ladies Sunday school class and regularly attended church as long as her health permitted. She leaves a legacy of faith to her family.

Doris had a radiant smile and everyone she ever met felt like they were touched by someone special. She loved her family deeply and spending time with her grandchildren was especially enjoyable.

She is survived by her three children: Greg Kenny, Phil Kenny (Maryellen), and Jody Hutto (Ray); grandchildren: Lindsey Kenny, Eric Kenny, and Rachel Hutto (Sean Gillespie); and surviving sisters: Betty Kelly and Hilda Epsten. She is predeceased in death by her parents, her husband of 74 years, three sisters, and three brothers.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, November 9, 2024, at 12:00 P.M. at Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors, 214 Davis Road, Augusta, GA 30907. The visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be private at Westover Memorial Park.
