Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Friday, October 05, 2012, Mrs. Doris M. McManus, 84, wife of 64 years to Col. (Ret) John J. “Jack” McManus.
Family members in addition to her husband include daughters: Kathy A. Hutchins and husband Jeremy, Patti M. Williams and husband Harry, Maureen B. McAtee-MacRae, Peggy M. Daykin and husband Richard; son: T. John McManus; grandchildren: Roberta Hutchins, Nicholas Hutchins, Kelly Williams Hixon (Steve), Jordan Williams Lambert (Tommy), Logan Williams, Devon Williams, Joshua McAtee, Colleen Fietzek (Justin), Katie Daykin Capuy (Jed), Ann E. Daykin, Jack R. Daykin; and 7 loving great grandchildren.
Doris was a native of Stamford, CT. but has made her home in Augusta since 1964. Doris stood by her loving husband’s side during his distinguished military career, keeping home and family together during her husband’s operational duties overseas. Doris was an enthusiastic Girl Scout Leader for many years for her daughters’ troops. She was passionate about her volunteer work with Holy Trinity Catholic Church Sewing Group. Doris served as a volunteer for 39 years with the Humana Hospital Guild. Her family was the main focus of her life and they knew of her devotion to them, as well as theirs to her.
Funeral Mass will be held Monday, October 8, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church with Fr.Gerald Ragan celebrant. Interment will follow in Westover Memorial Park.
