Dorothy Adcock Baker - Dorothy “Dot” Baker died peacefully on September 1, 2021 at the age of 95 in Evans, Georgia. She was born in Birmingham, Alabama on August 13, 1926 to the late Curtis L. and Sadie P. Adcock. She later moved to Atlanta where she grew up and met her husband of 51 years, Warren D. Baker. She and her family later moved to Jacksonville, Florida where they lived for more than 30 years, until she and Warren relocated to the Augusta, Georgia area in 1998. In her later years, she was well known to the residents of Brandon Wilde as the “cake lady” as she made pound cakes for anyone and everyone that she met or came to know.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren D. Baker and her daughter, Shara B. Overstreet and her brother Curtis Adcock, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Catherine B. Harden (Russ) of Manteo, North Carolina, grandchildren James C. Overstreet, Jr. (Kim) of Augusta, Georgia, Kelly C. Harden of Charlotte, North Carolina, Carrie H. Dixon (Kevin) of Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina, Amanda S. Harden of Wilmington, North Carolina and N. Baker Overstreet of New York, New York, and great-grandchildren, Sarah C. Overstreet, Mary John Overstreet and Grace Dixon and her loyal friend, Doris Lane.
She will be interred next to her husband at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta at later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the donor’s charity of choice.
